Warm gut-friendly banana choc smoothie

As the deep winter sets in, my kids and I are looking for something that’s both delicious and nourishing to keep us cosy and satisfied. Look no further than this incredible smoothie recipe that will warm you up from the inside out!
You might be wondering, how can a chocolate smoothie be gut-friendly? Well, this recipe includes a secret ingredient: bone broth! Bone broth is an incredible addition to this smoothie, packed with nutrients that can reduce inflammation and promote gut healing.

Allergens: Wheat, Dairy

Age group: 12 months +

Serves: 4

Prep: 10 mins

Ingredients:

2 ripe bananas (260g), peeled

1 1/2 cups (375ml) milk of choice

1/2 cup (125ml) bone broth

1/4 cup (25g) oats

1 1/2 tbs (15g) cacao powder

3 Medjool dates, (60g), pitted

1/4 cup (35g) pumpkin seed meal

1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract

Optional toppings:

1 1/2 cups (375ml) whipped coconut cream

2 tbsp (20g) choc nibs

2 tbsp (40ml) date syrup

Equipment:

High-speed blender

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender for 5 mins until smooth, creamy and warm. Alternatively, heat the smoothie in a small pot over low heat.

  2. Serve in a mug and top with whipped coconut cream, a sprinkle of choc nibs and a drizzle of date syrup.

Storing and leftovers: Store covered in the fridge for up to 2 days, or freeze in popsicle moulds for up to 4 months.
